Animals love me.
Correction: The love to burp on me.
Take my dog for example. I have never heard a more 'vocal' dog. I don't think I had ever even heard a dog burp before we got him. Most of the time he gobbles up his food like he'll never see food again, then he casually saunters his way over to me. He has got the cutest little 'pat me' look so every time I oblige. Usually I'll get right in his face and this is where it goes totally wrong. He looks at me, opens up and burps. Loudly too. He could put Barney from the Simpsons to shame. At first it was funny. Now? Not so much.
Recently, I've noticed it has spread to other animals. Last night while at the barn, I had a horse burp on me. I can't say I've heard a horse burp before, but this mare changed that. She was happily munching on her dinner when I came over to say hello. Apparently she didn't want any visitors during dinner, because she looks up at me and burps in my face. I can't say it was all sound, there was some wetness to that burp. I wiped my face and moved on to another, more polite equine friend. Maybe I was like the horsey equivalent to those annoying telemarketers that call us at dinnertime? Maybe I'll burp at them and see if they leave me alone.
Yes, I have a way with animals I guess. Want to hear a dog burp? Come by at dinnertime. You won't be disappointed.

Honey, it's nothing personal. In most cultures, burping is a sign of respect for a good meal and it has been for centuries.
No reason to think that the animal world is any different! I'm sure your dog is merely saying, "Thank you for being such a gracious owner/hostess and bringing my life in this world much joy!" by belching in your face. Same with the horse! "Thanks for such wonderful food you human thing you!"
eeewww, the horse burp sounds gross. The doggie burp sounds kind of cute!
At least they're not farting on you. I'm just saying...
i agree with randi
i mean, a burb, yeah that's food being digested. but a fart, that's stinky poo gas
Sassy - Maybe the animals are just comfy around you! Although I have been a witnwes to both Coopy burps and farts......either way I usually end up laughing!
