First Long Weekend...

Ahhh...the official start of 'summer'. The first long weekend of the year. The May 2-4 as we affectionately call it (taken from the term used for a case of beer). It's really just an excuse to spend the weekend drinking. I don't think many people truly know that we are celebrating Queen Victoria's birthday (for more go here). Many just know it as a drink fest and a day off work. Either way it usually proves to be an interesting weekend. Come Tuesday morning you hear the reports of all the dillweeds caught speeding up to their cottages, doing stupid things as they drive. Last year, one guy was busted weaving in and out of traffic doing no less then 180km, while eating a burger and playing with himself (okay, I'm kidding about him playing with himself..but you get the point). Tuesday will also bring stories of camping trips no doubt turned sour by unpredictable weather. We canucks don't seem to care, as long as we are out doing 'something' this weekend. It sets the tone for the rest of the summer. So, as the weekend starts, I wish everyone all the best whether you are celebrating or not. Cheers!
